PRADO MUSEUM

Prado Museum for children

Modality: Groups of 1 to 7 persons | Groups of 8 to 30 persons

This private visit to the Prado is led by Juan Maquieira, who has been working with children from all countries since 1996, as well as being a Professor of University Tourism, and a lecturer at the Complutense University of Madrid in the Master’s Degree in Journalism.

This interactive visit to the Prado is designed to encourage children’s curiosity and stimulate their visual memory, with ages ranging from 6 to 16 years, it will be adapted to adults, because they will find new perspectives while deciphering the masterpieces.

A truly engaging learning experience for children of all ages, where we will discuss the artistic technique used by painters from Romanesque chapels, through Gothic altarpieces, to Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical painting, as well as some interesting Roman and Renaissance sculptures.

A unique experience in which we will explore family units, patronage, the role of women and children over the centuries, fashion, the role of animals in the nobility.

Medical visit to the Prado Museum

This Tour will take us on a journey through medical specialities, treating the Prado Museum as an imaginary hospital.

As man is consubstantial with illness and pain and the doctor is always present at birth and death, it is only natural that these moments have been depicted by painters throughout history.

We will begin with the famous doctors portrayed and will pass through the delivery room, paediatrics, dermatology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, rheumatic genetics and nutrition, alterations of the locomotor apparatus, emergency surgery, and dental and surgical wards, among others.

Prado Museum Custom Made

This tour is left to the client to choose what he/she prefers to see, focusing on one or several authors.

A review of the History of Romanesque Painting with its chapels of Segovia and Soria, passing through the International and Italian Gothic, reaching the Renaissance of Rome, Florence and reaching the great Venetians, following the Spanish Baroque and Flamenco and ending with the Neoclassicism of Goya, prelude to the Impressionists and Expressionists, as a culmination of a Sorolla already in the twentieth century.

Prado Museum Masterpieces

Modality: Groups of 1 to 7 persons | Groups of 8 to 30 persons

You will have a two-hour masterclass at the Prado Museum (perhaps the finest classical gallery of European painters in the world) focusing on key works of art and exploring and discussing the highlights of the collection, as well as deciphering the layers of meaning and underlying hidden messages.

We will highlight the Spanish Baroque painters (El Greco; Ribera; Murillo; Zurbarán; and Velázquez “Master of Masters”; analyse the profound Realism and Naturalism of the Spanish Golden Age, but not forgetting Goya and his profound analysis of reality.

The explosion of sensual Venetian colour and the artistic revolution of the 16th century (Titian and Tintoretto), as well as the exquisite Flemish paintings of R.Van Weyden and the unclassifiable and surrealist Hieronymus Bosch, to finish with the voluptuous Flemish Baroque “brushstrokes” of Rubens and Van Dick.

We will analyse the interrelationships between the different schools and their religious, socio-cultural and political influences.
This is a truly engaging learning experience designed and led by a specialist in Tourism and Art History, who has worked at the Prado Museum for the past 25 years, Juan Maquieira.

Prado Museum Gastronomic Route

Modality: Groups of 1 to 7 persons | Groups of 8 to 30 persons

In this tour, we will visit those paintings that show us the gastronomy of different periods in different countries, and how, depending on the different social classes, the menu of the diners varied.

But we will also analyse the Baroque still lifes and their first great Spanish geniuses and the introduction of hanging products on the table as opposed to the traditional horizontal ones.

We will also look at the most exquisite products of the land and the sea that the Iberian Peninsula could offer by the hand of eminent neoclassical painters. But we will also analyse the Castilian austerity of our still lifes as opposed to the bourgeois sumptuousness of the Dutch.

Prado Museum Erotic Visit

We will visit the “reserved room” of the kings of Spain exclusively for centuries, where you will see the expectations about beauty, nudity and sexual taboos, and sometimes, the sensuality of the paintings even so religious. Secrets of one of the best galleries in the world.

THYSSEN MUSEUM

Thyssen Museum Visit

Modality: Groups of 1 to 7 persons | Groups of 8 to 30 persons

On a former 18th century neoclassical palace restored by R. Moneo (the same architect who designed the extension of the Prado Museum) this small but impressive museum displays the collection sold by Mr. Thyssen to the Spanish State in 1992. The tour of this museum ranges from the Romanesque period to the avant-garde of the 20th century.

We start with any Italian Romanesque painter, and we will explain some Flemish primitive panels of genius, like us, Jan Van Eyck and R.Van Weyden from the 15th century, up to the Italian Renaissance painters (Ghirlandaio, Messina, Carpaccio, Baroque-Caravaggio, Canaletto) and any Rubens and a Rembrandt.
In the Ducth Golgen period we delve into the Portraits of Frans Hals, the Landscapes of Ruisdael; and a selection of luxurious still lifes by Heda, W. Kalf, Var derHamen.

The best selection of American painters from the USA, New York’s Hudson River: Romantic landscapes: Clooney; Thomas Cole; Church Durand; Cropsey; Landscape Painters: J.Heade; Fitz H. Line. Still lifes John Peto, and Harnett. Wislow Homer following the Paris school of Barbizon, Whistler; Chasse and Sargent.

But if the Thyssen Museum is worth the visit it is thanks to the incredible group of French Impressionist and German Expressionist painters. Among the French, we will explain how the Impressionists became the first respectable generation of painters in the world: Courbet; Corot;, Pissaro; Monet; E.Manet; Renoir ;Degas; Sisley; Cézanne, Gauguin;Two Van Goth. Of the German expressionist painters: Shmidt; Heckel; Pechestein; Kirchner; E. Nolde; Kandinsky. Nolde; Kandinsky.


And finally, any modern painter of the 20th century, from Picasso and G. Braque, Gris; to Polock, Gorky; Rauscherberg; Rothko; Hooper; and Roy Lichtenstein.

Reina Sofía Museum Visit

On the site of a former 18th century hospital, the most important museum of contemporary Spanish art, open since 1992, was restored and adapted.

We will explain the keys to perhaps the “most important painting in the world in the 20th century” made by Picasso in Paris about the disaster of the Spanish Civil War and above all, “a plea against the massacre of innocents in the war, El Guernica”.

Important collection of surrealist paintings by Salvador Salí, as well as an interesting group of paintings by Joan Miró.

On the other hand, Spanish painters and sculptors such as Antonio López, Equipo Crónica, Saura; Chillida, Barcelo, Oteiza, etc.
